Airman 1st Class Derrick Smit, 17th Operational Weather Squadron weather technician, monitors two typhoons south of Japan Aug. 23, at the Pacific Air Forces Headquarters, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The 17th OWS recently completed a standardization and evaluation program for weather operations, or SEPWO, inspection where they scored 214 out of a possible 215 points, for a 99.53 percent passing score. Members of the squadron had to pay up on a shaving bet when they scored higher than 97 percent, including more than 75 years of continuous mustache growth.
