Lance Cpl. Elias Martinez surfaces after traversing the pit and pond underwater obstacle at the
Jungle Warfare Training Center Aug. 10. The obstacle is part of the endurance course, designed
to push Marines to their physical and mental limits. Martinez is a rifleman with Company E, 2nd
Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. JWTC is
part of Marine Corps Installations Pacific.
