Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) exit a CH-53E Sea Stallion during a simulated mass casualty drill aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). The drill was conducted as a part of Amphibious Integration Training (AIT), which provides the initial opportunity for the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) to conduct operational maneuvering from sea to shore before supporting multilateral exercises, contingency operations, or humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions. Bonhomme Richard, commanded by Capt. Daniel Dusek, is the lead ship of the only forward-deployed amphibious ready group and is currently on a scheduled deployment.
