    A Japanese taiko drumming performance is taking place before a large audience of U.S. military personnel in desert camouflage uniforms. A woman in a red and black traditional performance outfit kneels while playing a drum, accompanied by a young child also participating in the performance.     Marines and sailors enjoy a traditional taiko, or drum, performance at Camp Beppu, Japan, Aug. 19. The performance was held during a social engagement designed to strengthen the bond between the Japanese and U.S. service members. The Marines and sailors are with Combat Assault Battalion and 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. Both are with 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. 2nd Bn., 3rd Marines, is deployed to Okinawa under the unit deployment program.
