First Lt. Justin Silva, 20th Bomb Squadron navigator, checks the serial number of a bomb on Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Aug. 15, 2012. Before a flight, aircrew members check the serial number and compare it to the weapons pre-flight checklist to ensure the correct munitions are loaded. Aircrews from Barksdale participated in Exercise Combat Hammer. The exercise is used to evaluate the employment of precision guided munitions to ensure the weapons are fully functional and mission capable.
