Sgt. 1st Class Wendell Reed radios in on a microphone inside his protective equipment after he and his partner, Staff Sgt. Michael King, detect radiation while clearing a route at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center as part of Vibrant Response 13, a catastrophic incident exercise conducted by U.S. Northern Command and led by U.S. Army North. Reed, the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear noncommissioned officer, and King, the survey team chief, 45th Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team, Tennessee Army National Guard, were clearing a route to an area hospital for the scenario.
