  • The 26-year-old 1st Lt. Christopher A. Swanson (front), acting commander of the 779th Engineering Company from Pahersburg, W.Va. restructures his mission plan before leading a mock exercise during Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX) 91 13-01.  Swanson, a southwest Washington native with the 299th Engineer Company from Fort Belvoir, Va., recently volunteered for a deployment with the 779th in hopes of maturing his leadership abilities within the Army Reserves.  CSTX 91 13-01 is planned and coordinated by the 91st Training Division (Operations) at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif.  The CSTX gives participating units an opportunity to rehearse military maneuvers and tactics such as base security, convoy operations, and battle reaction drills during simulated enemy attacks as well as apply their Military Occupational Specialty skills in a theater of operations.  The exercise provides realistic training to units to successfully meet the challenges of an extended and integrated battlefield.
  • Assistant Fire Chief Ted Richmond gives instructions on hose line techniques to Army Reserve firefighters prior to entering the burn house during the 2011 Combat Support Training Exercise held here. The firefighters are members of the 482nd Engineer Detachment (Firefighter Headquarters), 359th and 750th Engineer Detachments (Firefighter) based at Fort Riley, Kan., and the 324th Engineer Detachment (Firefighter), based at Granite City, Ill. The Combat Support Training Exercise 91 13-01 is planned and coordinated by the 91st Training Division (Operations) at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif.   • Army Reserve firefighters change out air bottles prior to re-entering the burn house during the 2011 Combat Support Training Exercise held here. Each crew made two entries into the firehouse during the morning's training. The firefighters are members of the 482nd Engineer Detachment (Firefighter Headquarters), 359th and 750th Engineer Detachments (Firefighter) based at Fort Riley, Kan., and the 324th Engineer Detachment (Firefighter), based at Granite City, Ill.
