The image shows a group of soldiers in U.S. Army ACU (Army Combat Uniform) pattern camouflage conducting mortar firing exercises in an outdoor field environment. Multiple mortar systems are visible, with at least one actively firing as evidenced by visible smoke discharge. The setting appears to be a training exercise on hilly, grassy terrain with camouflage netting shelters in the background.

Mortarmen from the Puerto Rico National Guard, 1st Battalion, 296th Infantry Regiment, 101st Troop Command, hone their skills during a "fire for effect" exercise at Camp Santiago Joint Maneuver Training Center, July 12. The soldiers of 101st TC are currently undergoing their annual training in which Army warrior tasks, battle drills and training related to their military occupational skills are put into practice, in order to maintain proficiency and be familiar with the equipment they will handle in the event of a deployment.
