The Honorable Jerry Sanders, mayor of San Diego, speaks to guest at the opening ceremony for the Miramar Energy Project aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar June 14. The project is a joint venture between the City of San Diego, Fortistar LLC and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, reduces the energy load on the local grid and moves the air station in the direction of energy independence.
