Vice Adm. Matthew L. Nathan, U.S. Navy surgeon general and chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, presents his command coin to Capt. Jonathan Olmsted, the civil service master aboard Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), May 22, 2012. Nathan visited the Pacific Partnership 2012 crew embarked aboard Mercy and conducted an all-hands call where he emphasized the importance of building relationships in the Asia-Pacific Region. Nathan leads a global healthcare network of 63,000 Navy medical personnel around the world who provide high-quality health care to more than one million eligible beneficiaries. Navy medical personnel deploy with sailors and Marines worldwide, providing critical mission support aboard ship, in the air, under the sea and on the battlefield. Pacific Partnership is the largest annual humanitarian civic assistance mission in the Asia-Pacific Region. (Photo by Kristopher Radder)
