Nathan aboard USNS Mercy in Guam

Vice Adm. Matthew Nathan, U.S. Navy surgeon general and chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, passes through side boys on the quarterdeck of the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) May 22. Nathan leads a global healthcare network of 63,000 Navy medical personnel around the world who provide high-quality health care to more than one million eligible beneficiaries. Navy Medicine personnel deploy with sailors and Marines worldwide, providing critical mission support aboard ship, in the air, under the sea and on the battlefield. Mercy is the lead vessel for this year's Pacific Partnership, the largest annual humanitarian civic assistance mission in the Asia Pacific Region.
