A soldier with the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, stands amid a sea of duffle bags and ruck sacks here, May 14. The soldier is guarding the bags while others receive a brief for bag-drop operations. Bag-drop is the term used to describe the collection of a soldier's bags the day prior to their redeployment back to the U.S. The 1st ACB has reached the end of their year deployment in Afghanistan and has begun their redeployment home in earnest as the first main-body flight of troopers left Afghanistan, May 15, in order to return to their home base of Fort Hood, Texas.
