A U.S. Marine Corps KC-130J Super Hercules assigned to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 starts its engines, April 22, at Villamor Air Base, in Manila, Republic of the Philippines. The KC-130J flew US and Philippine commanders and international media to the island of Palawan for a Balikatan 2012 media availability day on Bautista Air Base, Puerto Princesa City. Exercise Balikatan is an annual training event aimed at improving combined planning, combat readiness, humanitarian assistance and interoperability between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. The term "balikatan" in Filipino means "shoulder-to-shoulder."
