Staff Sgt. Matthew Skvarna holds his father's and grandfather's aircrew wings as well as his grandfather's World War II aircew dairy on Joint Base Charleston - Air Base, April 25. Skvarna is a third generation aircrew member and he carry these items with him on every mission. His father was a loadmaster and his grandfather was a right gunner on a B-29 super fortress. His grandfather also received the Air Force Flying Cross for his efforts during the Pacific campaign during WWII. Skvarna is an instructor loadmaster with the 17 Airlift Squadron, 437th Airlift Wing.
