(Left) An Armed Forces of the Philippines soldier and (right) U.S. Army soldier act as safety observers while AFP soldiers clear their weapons after completing a live-fire training course during Balikatan 2012, April 21, at Fort Magsaysay, Philippines. Both forces took turns through the live-fire course, and shared tactics and techniques throughout the training day. Balikatan 2012 is an annual Republic of the Philippines-U.S. military exercise focusing on field training, humanitarian assistance and a command post exercise.
