Philippine Coast Guard dentists perform tooth extractions during a medical and veterinary outreach clinic in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Republic of the Philippines on April 11. The medical and veterinary outreach clinic is part of the humanitarian civic assistance (HCA) portion of Exercise Balikatan 2012 (BK12), which officially started on April 16. The HCA portion of the exercise started March 12 with engineering projects, consisting of building two-room classrooms at five schools within the Puerto Princesa area. The construction projects are now over 70 percent complete and are expected to be completed by April 27, 2012. BK12, in its 28th iteration, is an annual bilateral training exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military to enhance interoperability between the two partner nations.
