Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, “Gimlets,” arrive in South Korea in 1950 to support the Republic of Korea in defending key locations from invading forces. The Gimlet soldiers, comprising Task Force Smith, participated in the Battle of Osan, which marked the US Army’s first ground action of the Korean War.
