Brig. Gen. James M. Lariviere, commanding general of 4th Marine Division, and Col. Mark A. Smith, deputy commander, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, talk to a Dutch soldier while awaiting a Dutch landing craft utility, which would take them aboard Her Netherlands Majesty's Ship Rotterdam, March 11. The general and Sgt. Maj. George Muskievicz, sergeant major of Headquarter Battalion, 4th Marine Division, toured the Dutch landing platform dock amphibious-warfare ship while visiting Norway March 10-12 for Exercise Cold Response 2012. The ship is supporting Company K, 3rd Battalion, 24th Regiment, 4th Marine Division, during their participation in the exercise. The multinational invitational event focuses on rehearsing mid-intensity operations in winter conditions and exercising the interoperability with the NATO allies.
