The command post exercise is designed to improve relations with partnering nations and enhance interoperability while conducting military operations. Cobra Gold 2012 is an annual co-sponsored exercise built to improve the capability to plan and conduct combined-joint operations as well as foster bonds between neighbors within the Asia-Pacific region.
