The Second Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, walks alongside Lt. Gen. Thomas Waldhauser, commanding general of I Marine Expeditionary Force, through the Infantry Immersion Trainer at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 20, 2011. During Dr. Biden's visit, she observed what Marines at the IIT, a state-of-the-art training complex which simulates what Marines could expect to see in Afghanistan. She also toured the Explosive Ordnance Disposal facilities and spoke with Marines and families who will soon deploy. She also toured and visited with Marines and their families at Wounded Warrior Battalion-West, a command dedicated to providing non-medical care for wounded, ill and injured Marines and their families as they return to duty or transition to civilian life.
