An Iraqi army engineer from the 3rd Brigade, 9th Iraqi Army Division (Mechanized) gives hand signals to a back hoe operator, another Iraqi army engineer, directing him where to dig during an effort to clear areas where insurgents have hidden weapons in the past near Al Awad, Iraq July 18. The Iraqi army engineers have been working with Soldiers from Sapper Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment throughout the Al Awad area to shape surrounding terrain so that it can no longer be used by insurgents to launch attacks and hide weapons caches.
