Tech. Sgt. Michael Lindamood, a loadmaster for the 167th Airlift Squadron, performs a preflight inspection while wearing a joint service aircrew mask (JSAM), as a research team for the JSAM observes. A Department of Defense research team working on the development of a joint service aircrew mask conducted field assessments at the 167th Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard unit in Martinsburg, W.Va., Dec. 7, 2011. The team had aircrew in each of the flying positions don the mask and accompanying gear and perform their duties on a C-5 aircraft.
