Faroukq Tarzi an Afghan role player gives a speech during a simulated press conference during the I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) Mission Rehearsal Exercise at Camp Pendleton, Dec. 13. Maj. Gen. Charles M. Gurganus, the commanding general for I MEF (Fwd) participated in the press conference as well as participating in a mock shura. During the shura, Gurganus spoke with role players about the security transition, which will take place as I MEF (Fwd) partners with coalition forces to train and develop Afghan forces. Gurganus oversees more than 6,000 Marines and other coalition forces and will assume command of Regional Command-Southwest from II MEF (Fwd) as I MEF (Fwd) deploys this spring.
