Pfc. Michael Partipilo, C Company, 1st Brigade, 12th Combined Arms Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, after receiving his Purple Heart from Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno, Multi-National Corps-Iraq commander. Odierno also thanked Partipilo for his service to his country at an award ceremony held at a combat patrol outpost in Baqubah, Iraq, July 13. The Purple Heart is the oldest award given in the Army and is awarded to those who obtain injuries while in battle.
