Secretary of the Navy Raymond Mabus recognizes three Marines and one sailor during his visit to Marine Corps Base Hawaii Dec. 6 before attending the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. “I have no better part of my job than going out and speaking to Marines and sailors, finding out what’s on their minds and finding them an answer,” Mabus said. “The men and women of the Navy and Marine Corps cannot be touched by any force on earth.” During his appearance to a large crowd at Dewey Square here, Mabus presented one Purple Heart, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals with Combat Vs and conducted a meritorious promotion. He then spoke to the crowd about the future of the Navy and Marine Corps and answered questions from those in attendance. Afterward, Mabus toured MCB Hawaii, observing different energy conservation programs implemented here.
