Ambassador Ryan Crocker, U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, thanks Slovakian Explosive Ordinance Disposal Maj. Roland Bartakovics at Camp Nathan Smith, Oct. 29. Crocker visited CNS to thank the residents for their preparedness, vigilance and determination during a failed enemy attack of the base on Oct. 27. The Slovakian EOD unit identified and destroyed a bomb-laden vehicle outside the compound the enemy used to fire at CNS. The EOD unit actions protected Afghan and coalition forces from danger as they moved to clear the compound.
