Spc. Preston Laybon, a cannon crewmember with Battery B, 2nd Battalion, 12th Field Artillery Regiment, digs a hole for the spades of his crew’s M777 155 mm Howitzer before a direct fire exercise Oct. 13. Laybon, a Kahaluu, Hawaii, native, helped dig the holes to keep the artillery piece from shifting during firing.
