Lt. Col. Adolfo Garcia Jr., outgoing battalion commander of 1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, hands the unit guidon to the incoming commander, Lt. Col. James McDonough, during a change of command ceremony Oct. 7. Garcia took command of 1/11 January 2010 and successfully completed a deployment to Afghanistan. McDonough, a Naval Academy graduate, deployed to Afghanistan at the end of 2009 and recently served as the executive officer of 11th and 12th Marine Regiments.
