Staff Sgt. Joel Ramirez, a tanker with Company A, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, U.S. Division-North, recalls a story about Sgt. Estevan Altamirano during a memorial in Altamirano’s honor at Contingency Operating Base Speicher, Iraq, Sept. 20. Altamirano was killed in accident Sept. 18 in Iraq.
