Thomas Kossendey, Germany’s deputy defense minister, sits in the cockpit of an AH-64D Apache attack helicopter as a pilot from Task Force Lobos,1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, explains the intricacies of the aircraft during a visit to 1st ACB soldiers at Camp Marmal Aug. 31. During his visit, Kossendey saw firsthand the relationship between the Germans and the 1st ACB in Regional Command North, which is led by the Germans, and he said that partnership is important to overall mission success in Afghanistan.
