Petty Officer 1st Class Joe Beier, damage controlman, demonstrates how to use a self-contained breathing apparatus to sailors assigned to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force guided-missile destroyer JS Ashigara as they don protection equipment at the San Diego Center for Naval Engineering Firefighting School at Naval Base San Diego. Ashigara arrived in San Diego to participate in a combined firefighting training evolution hosted by the U.S. Navy.
