Sgt. Isaias Lerma, a K-9 handler with the MCAS Cherry Point, N.C.’s provost marshals’ office, flings one of the military working dogs during a demonstration at Havelock’s National Night Out, Aug. 2. Members of the community crowded around the military working dog demonstration where they showed how the dogs react to certain situations and why they are so effective. The trainers work with their dogs for months to develop a close relationship to ensure the dogs instantly obey their orders.
