Explosive ordnance disposal technicians assigned to EOD Mobile Unit One use the man transportable robot system Mark 2 to open the door of this vehicle for closer inspection during a vehicle borne improvised explosive device field training exercise at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, May 24, 2011. This exercise is designed by EOD Training and Evaluation Unit 1 to determine the skill and ability of technicians preparing for deployment in support of the global war on terrorism. EOD techs specialize in clearing, rendering safe and disposing of explosive materials and improvised explosive devices while providing intelligence about nuclear, biological, conventional and chemical weapon threats stateside and abroad.
