U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Kaleb Pérez, deputy of enforcement for San Juan simulates a rescue of admitted aquaphobe and civil affairs specialist, Pfc. Karla Arroyo-Rosario during basic water survival training June 5 at the San Juan Natatorium. Twenty seven members of the 402nd Civil Affairs Battalion at Fort Buchanan learned a variety of water survival tactics and many overcame the fear of water as they were tested with jumping into deep water from as high as 60 ft. According to Pérez, the same distance a Coast Guard rescue swimmer typically prefers to enter the water. (U.S. Army Reserve Photo by Sgt. Luis Delgadillo)
