Pallbearers carry the coffin of Lt. Col. Benjamin J. Palmer to the altar of the air station chapel during a memorial service May 23. Hundreds from the local and military communities gathered to honor Palmer, the former commander of 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion here, who was killed in action in Afghanistan May 12.
