U.S. Army Gen. Carter F. Ham, U.S. Africa Command commander, thanks Rear Adm. Brian L. Losey for his service as he presents him with the Defense Superior Service Medal during the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa change of command ceremony, May 19. The Defense Superior Service medal is awarded to members of the United States armed forces who perform "superior meritorious service in a position of significant responsibility." As the event's presiding officer, Ham transferred command of authority from U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Brian L. Losey to U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Michael T. Franken.
