Cpl. Alfred J. Joseph, a tactical data network specialist with Communications Platoon, Headquarters and Service Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 3, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward), instructs Marines on the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program aboard Camp Dwyer, Afghanistan, Feb. 21. Joseph enjoys helping Marines achieve their goals and believes MCMAP builds a lot of confidence in junior Marines. He is known by his peers and superiors to be reliable and says his motivation comes from a strong family bond.

  • Sergeant Warren Sparks, squad leader, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, is currently deployed to Helmand province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Sparks was raised in Baton Rouge, La., by a family with generations of military service. He chose to continue his family‚Äôs legacy during 2007 when he became a Marine.
