Staff Sgt. Melissa Jenkins, a rigger instructor, gives the “one-minute” indication to troops waiting to jump during an airborne operation April 20 at Blackstone Army Airfield, Fort Pickett. Jenkins was overseeing rigger students during a jump in which they packed their own parachutes. The exercise is meant to help the jumpers comprehend the level of trust placed in them as riggers.
