Petty Officer 3rd Class Greg Sykes, an aviation maintenance technician and loadmaster at Air Station Kodiak, loads more than 7,000 pounds of gear on several palettes into the back of an HC-130 Hercules aircraft for delivery to Cold Bay to support the helicopter crew there deployed from Air Station Kodiak Oct. 6, 2010. During the winter the Coast Guard forward deploys aircrews to Cold Bay and St. Paul to reduce the response time to incidents in Western Alaska during the increased fishing activity brought on by the crab fisheries.
