On Sept. 27 Cpl. Jared W. Childress, a fire-team leader with Engineer Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 5-2, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward), climbs into the gunner's turret of a 7-ton, Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement, or MTVR. Childress, a 21-year-old from Baltimore, provided personnel security during a barrier-emplacement mission in Fallujah Sept. 26. Combat Logistics Battalion 5-2 is made up of Marines and sailors from 56 separate battalion, active and reserve, representing each of the three Marine Expeditionary Forces and Marine Forces Reserve. Engineer Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 5-2, 1st Marine Logistics Group is deployed with I MEF (FWD) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq (MNF-W) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi Reconstruction.
