William Smith, 36th Infantry Division deputy commander of maneuvers, addressed Soldiers with Alpha and Bravo Company, 1st Regiment of the 141st Infantry Battalion, 72nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team after their arrival at Biggs Airfield, Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, July 12. The two units are returning from Camp Victory, Baghdad after deploying to Iraq with the 72nd IBCT in December 2009. The soldiers performed a variety of security missions, including fixed site and convoy operations, under their company commanders and first sergeants -- Capt. Christopher Montano of San Antonio, and 1st Sgt. Juan Benavides of Victoria, with A Company, 1/141; and Capt. Jeremy Smart, of San Antonio, and Grataski, with B-1/141.
