Cpl. Darren Burnham, a native of Charleston, S.C., is a Marine Operations Clerk assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 464 (HMH 464), currently participating in the 23rd Fleet Week hosted by the city of New York. Burnham, the son of Dale Burnham of Springvale, attended Fort Mill High School, also attended an event hosted by Navy for Moms. The group was created in 2008 for the mothers and loved ones of those who are currently serving or considering serving in the U.S. Navy. The group gives members a support group to discuss issues with others who share common concerns. More than 3,000 members of the Maritime Services are participating in the yearly event hosted by the city. The event includes military demonstrations, sporting events, ship tours, Staten Island Music Festival, parades and a chance to meet the men and women of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
