Col. Samir, commander of 3rd Battalion, 47th Iraqi Army Brigade, hands a backpack to an Iraqi girl during the ribbon-cutting for her new school in Kuna Riwi, near Kirkuk, Iraq, May 17. The project began in November of 2009 and was funded by the Commander's Emergency Response Program. Soldiers of 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, out of Fort Bliss, Texas, along with their partners in 3/47th IA, held the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Kuna Riwi primary school, which will give quality education to more than 100 children.
