A SOWT pilots a RQ-11B Raven, an unmanned aircraft system, that provides real-time reconnaissance of the local environment, such as rivers, at a forward operating base in Afghanistan. Air Force Special Operations Weathermen are the only career field in the Department of Defense that provides Special Forces with meteorological data in support of SOF missions.
