In an effort to keep boredom at bay, Pfc. Brandi Morales of Kahuku, Hawaii, sends out some last-minute text messages before deploying to Afghanistan from Fort Drum, New York, March 25. Morales, who is on her first deployment is a medical specialist assigned to 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion of the 10th Mountain Division's 1st Brigade Combat Team.
