160503-N-XJ788-072 NORFOLK, Virginia (May 3, 2016) Sailors and Marines man the rails aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) as it returns to Naval Station Norfolk from a regularly scheduled deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet area of responsibility. Kearsarge, part of the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group, returned from a scheduled seven-month deployment in support of maritime security operations, crisis response, theater security operations, and providing a forward naval presence in the U.S. Navy's 5th and 6th Fleet area of operations.
