Air Force Col. Bill Myers shoots the breeze with one of his ground crew in front of an F-4 Phantom at Alconbury Royal Air Force Base in 1965. Myers had a 35-year military career that saw service in three wars as a fighter pilot. He initially joined the military as a private in the field artillery in the Colorado Army National Guard in 1938.
