Pennsylvania Army National Guard Maj. Allen Sharkey and his son, Air Force 1st Lt. Steve Sharkey, are shown together in this family photo, taken in the early 1970s. Allen is the grandfather of Colorado Army National Guardsman 1st Lt. Scott Sharkey, who is deployed to Iraq with the 86th Military Intelligence Company. The company operates under the 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, which is the predecessor of the 30th Infantry Division, where Allen earned his combat infantryman's badge during World War II. Steve would eventually retire as a lieutenant colonel.
