A person wearing a black shirt has a memorial flyer pinned to their back honoring Air Force First Lieutenant Roslyn Schulte, who was killed on May 20, 2009 in Kabul, Afghanistan from a roadside bomb attack. The flyer includes a photo of Lt. Schulte in uniform and notes the occasion as Memorial Day, May 25th, 2009. The setting appears to be an outdoor military base or similar environment.

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Kelli Roesch of Portland, Ore. wears a sign during the Memorial Day 5k run at a camp in the Middle East. The sign is in honor of fallen service member Air Force 1st. Lt. Roslyn Schulte, who died on May 20 in Afghanistan due to a roadside bomb. Petty Officer 1st Class Roesch trained with 1st. Lt. Schulte at the Ft. Lewis, Washington Army base prior to their transfer to separate locations the Middle East. "First Lt. Schulte was a great officer and even better person whose loss is rippling across many friends and fellow service members who knew and admired her," said Petty Officer 1st Class Roesch. Memorial Day events at the camp started off with a 5k run then a tug of war contest followed by a Memorial Day service and BBQ.
