A Marine with 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division begins bounding back during the immediate action drill aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Jan. 21, 2015. When a Marine bounds, they either move forward or backward with one group suppressing the enemy and protecting the other group that advances to egress from the enemy. This training was to review different patrolling tactics. Before coming into contact with the enemy, the Marines would conduct a patrol down the L5 range. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
